I tend to trade with candlestick formations which can easily be learnt. Most of my friends think you need to be proficient at maths but Forex trading works best for those who can recognise patterns and enter/exit trades without becoming emotionally attached to their Forex trading decisions.

Believe it or not its easy to say but very hard to do - especially when its your hard earned money on the line! There are techniques to use to overcome this area of trading the Forex market and shouldn't stop someone from giving it a go. There is so much help and support on the internet you just need to absorb information and start with a plan. This Forex Book explains more and is a great resource if you want to know more about the 'big picture'.

When trading the Forex market increasing your chances of success requires knowledge. Acquiring this knowledge takes hard work, time to study and dedication. Compile your knowledge base without taking any shortcuts, thereby assuring a solid foundation to build upon to successfully trade the Forex market.

For example from taking the time to understand the MACD indicator (Moving Average Convergence and Divergence - detailed in this Forex Book) it was possible to identify a breakout of the GBPUSD due to a 4 hour Forex chart showing a divergence of the MACD indicator and a trend line on a candlestick chart (more about Candlestick charts in this Forex Book). Want To Be A Forex Trader? Here Are 12 Top Tips

1. Read Trade Forex From Home before you do anything else. It covers a bit about everything so you can find out if Forex is for you. If you open a Forex trading account and haven't read the book then end up losing a load of money, then I will tell you I told you so.

2. Which leads me on to point no.2 - BE PREPARED with all things to do with Forex trading.

3. You MUST have a stop loss policy. Even if its a mental stop loss - you must have one and be prepared to exit the trade immediately if this level is hit - no excuses!

4. A Forex trading plan/system. You MUST have one and you MUST stick to it. Practise with paper trading and then a demo account first to gain confidence and skill with this. It does take some time but you have to trust your skill, which WILL grow.

5. Trade with the trend - DO NOT trade against it. If you are waiting for a reversal pattern to form on your Forex chart, wait until you have confirmation of a change in the direction of the trend before you open a position.

6. The Forex market is rarely your friend if the trade goes against you. Cut your losses quickly (go back to point 3) and accept them as a cost of trading - nothing more, then move on, forget about them.

REMEMBER: The most successful traders are those who LOSE THE LEAST NOT MAKE THE MOST.

7. With trading the Forex, learn to sit on your hands and not trade! ALWAYS look for good quality trades - the ones with high probability of success. A day without a trade is better than a day with one trade which looses you money. If you don't like the look of the market, the charts or if the day is full of economic announcements which you know will make the market unstable, then walk away.

8. Make sure you stay in profitable trades until your exit strategy comes into effect. In this case its good to adopt a trailing stop of say 10/15 pips away from the current price level (depending on which currencies you are trading). Maximise your good Forex trades by letting them run.

9. Learn about Fibonacci levels and how to apply them to your Forex charts.

10. Keep you Forex trading plan simple. Do not have too much information on your screen - it will only confuse you and make the decision to enter/exit a trade a whole lot harder.

11. MONEY MANAGEMENT, MONEY MANAGEMENT, MONEY MANAGEMENT! Be prepared - understand it. (go back to point no.2) NEVER risk wiping out your account - it can happen.

12. Forex trading isn't an exact science. Do not set yourself false targets and associate any emotions when trading. Do not 'expect' a trade to go in your prefered direction. Trade what you see and if you are wrong then thats just how it goes - move on to the next.

BBC 2's Million Dollar Traders

Million Dollar Traders on BBC2 last night. What a great introduction to city traders and how unpredictable the Stock market can be.

Some of the trainees have aspirations to trade full time including a retired man who was interviewed stating that he wanted to use his savings to trade from home after the series had finished. It will be interesting to see how he and the other traders gets on under the watchful eye of successful hedge fund manager Lex Van Dam and his right hand man experienced city trader Anton Kreil.

Well I guess it was pretty bad timing as the program was filmed last year when Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae announced financial meltdown in the US so the newbies couldn't be trading at a worse time! However the familiar 'frozen finger' inability to place a trade was prevalent so too was emotional attachment and emotional reactions, loss of confidence etc to trading which most newbies go through - including myself.......oh yes some good 'ol roller-coaster days but have managed to keep it together long enough to have learnt and come throgh the other side.

Having said that I haven't been able to do it trading the UK Stock market - Forex is where its at as far as I'm concerned so hats off to the guys in the program for trading the UK Stock market through one of the most difficult periods in a generation.

Did anyone else see it and did it bring back memories of your own early trading days? Has the program inspired you to look into trading possibilities yourself or has it put you off entirely?

In a few days time it looks like we will see the UK officially in recession and confidence in the economy will be low. The Euro's most fundamental economies France together with Germany seem to be weathering the economic storm without panic with France actually showing a rise in GDP in the third quarter.

Free Advice vs Paid Advice

I had a really lovely message from this guy who is a member of my Top Forex Trading Tips club on a business networking platform I have used for a number of years. He thanked me for my help and guidance with his FOREX learning commenting that the club is really useful to him. Having not organised a club before and wondering if I was talking to myself the feedback was really great!

I had a look around the site for other similar clubs which I hadn't done for a while I was amazzed to see how many clubs you had to pay to join. I'm not sure if I'm being way too generous in giving my FOREX trading advice etc away for free but figured if I can help out and share some stuff then it would be kinda cool...

Yes I am looking to sell my book and I need to make a living especially as I have a broken bone in my foot at the moment and am not going anywhere for a while but it has taken 2 years to research and write it. I have also had it professionally designed and layout by a fantastic graphics lady so there have been some costs incurred. But fundamentally I really believe the opportunities FOREX trading brings to the average Jo are enormous. Take a look - read the first chapter of the book for free and see what you think.

If after having read the first chapter its not for you then thats fine - don't waste your money on stuff which isn't going to interest you at all...especially in this current financial climate.

There is a FOREX mantra which has been mentioned to me many times:

PLAN YOUR TRADES AND THEN TRADE YOUR PLAN.

By writing yourself a FOREX trading plan you are setting your own parameters. The most successful traders are those who stick to their strategy to the letter! It is actually a very hard thing to do as many emotions kick in when you are trading your own money. This is why paper trading your strategy is so important when you are learning.

With FOREX trading its helpful to write all your trades down in a journal so you can go back over the week's trades to assess what works and what doesn't. The thing about FOREX trading is that unless you can afford to pay a reputable trader to sit with you every time you trade the only way you can learn is through your own experience. You then become your own mentor and you will find out which strategy works the best for you.

A few years ago I was working out how I could earn enough money to quit my day career and commuter hell to follow my passion for car racing and be financially independent. Having found buying and selling UK stocks not profitable enough for short term returns I enrolled on an expensive financial trading seminar. After the course I traded many of the markets but found I was increasingly disillusioned by trading the UK stock market and binary trading. Following on from conversations with other traders there it was - the Foreign Exchange platform or FOREX.

This had to be where professional traders made their money and I wanted to know more!

The trouble was there was so much information on the internet about FOREX trading - where would I start? Since coming across this problem I decided I wanted to write a book (download the first chapter for free here) to explain the essentials of FOREX trading in layman's terms. For this reason, I wrote Trade Forex From Home keeping it really simple, easy to follow and to understand with some basic trading techniques which if followed has the opportunity to get your Forex trading account up and running in no time. Candlestick Charting with FOREX Trading

FOREX trading isn't difficult. It is essentially a conversation between buyers and sellers which can be seen as a visual representation in candlestick charts. A candlestick shows how many transactions are being made - a red or black candle shows that more transactions for selling the currency pair are being placed whereas a green or white candle shows that more transactions for buying the base currency are being made.

With FOREX the size of the main 'body' of the candle shows the volume of those transactions and the 'shadow' of the candle the extent of the price rise or decline during that period. On a 1 min chart each candlestick will represent the level of buying and selling of the base currency every minute of the day. FOREX trading is very specific and the software available to the likes or you and me - retail traders immense!

FOREX trading once learnt has enormous opportunities to make a good living for a very long time. It is argueably the most tradable market available and will not be adversly affected by any credit crisis, financial crisis or economic crisis - its too vast!

Using Pivot Points In Your FOREX Trading Plan

With FOREX trading determining pivot levels begins with the calculation of the actual pivot point, which is simply the sum of the previous days high, low, and closing price. If the market opens or later trades at the extremes R2 or S2, pricing will exhibit a tendency to trade back toward the pivot point. Hence, FOREX traders tend to avoid buying high (at R2) or selling at the low (S2). The wisdom of this is even greater the further the price moves away from the day's pivot point.

High probability trading is the key to longevity as a FOREX trader. Trading reversal patterns given by price reaching the extremes of support and resistence levels means that you are giving yourself the highest possible probability of success.

There are many areas trading the FOREX benefits from as opposed to other financial markets available to retail traders. FOREX is such a vast global entity that it is very hard to manipulate the market and so it remains one of the most, if not the most tradable and profitable markets available to you and I.

FOREX Price Movement

Because the FOREX market is so vast and as it is a global trading platform no one can 100 percent predict what the market will do next. Not even the most experienced of FOREX traders! The way to address this is to develop strategies which will cover most eventualities.

The price of a currency relative to another will fluctuate up, down or move indecisively sideways. Normally the FOREX is one of the most trending markets available so its fairly easy to recognise when a currency price is stalling and reacting to market indecision.

Its reassuring to know that you don't have to be able to predict market movement, just to have a strategy to react to the next price move. If your preferred currency pair does not fit into your strategy then as a FOREX trader the idea is to wait for the appropriate set up or look at one of the other 7-9 currencies which are highly tradable.

As there are many opportunities during the day for many trading strategies to suit your trading plan the correct set up should be anticipated to fall into the strategy of selecting high probability trades to gain maximum return on your investment.

Trade FOREX vs Trade FTSE 100 Stocks

I remember one trade in particular trading a FTSE 100 mining stock being stopped out of a successful trade when a city broker added a substantial transaction - a price which was 20 pips below the current price offering, momentarily reducing the price and hence my active trade being stopped out at break even. I could see the transactions going through using the pending transactions area on my ADVFN account. I was disappointed as the trade was correct but factors beyond my control meant I wasn't going to be successful. This was the point at which I thought there must be another way - and there was, its called the FOREX market. More benefits of trading the FOREX market here.

Foreign Exchange - the FOREX market is not governed by a centralised exchange and therefore is not able to be manipulated by Market Makers or Brokers. This market is so vast that no individual or company can directly and profoundly effect the FOREX.

The above fact is very significant and the reason I wrote my book Trade Forex From Home describing why the FOREX market is the best market to trade.

Want to Learn Forex Trading? If you do, you should probably start off by understanding a bit more about it and get some training. The Forex market is a vast global market and the largest traded market in the world. Well over one trillion dollars are traded every day - lots of opportunity to make a profit then.

Proper training is a must if you are going to be trading the Forex market. There is a lot of money involved in forex trading. Without properly learning the forex market and how to trade forex, you can really lose a lot of money. However, you can also really make a lot of money once you know what you are doing. 90% of traders actually lose money in the forex market leaving only 10% of traders making money. Do you want to be part of the 90% or 10%? It is really up to you. Get the proper training to learn the forex market and start to make money by trading forex. With the right training you can develop your forex learning and make money by trading forex in a very short space of time.

The first thing you should learn is what forex trading actually is and how it works. The forex market is always changing - its in constant motion and available to trade 24 hours a day 5 days a week so you need to be updated with the latest information and news regarding it. After understanding the basics of how the forex market works, you should then start learning more in depth detail of how to trade and earn a profit. While you are still learning how to trade forex, you should never manage an actual account. You should always start with a demo account before you actually try it for real and manage a real account.

The Best Traders are ones who Lose the Least not Make the Most

Well I think this is true. When I first started trading (with a demo account) I was reluctant to pull out of a trade when it was going against me. It guess it went something like.....'maybe its a pull back and not an actual change in direction' but you only know for definite when you have already lost money. Its so easy to say when your sitting comfortably in your office chair when you Work At Home ahh that will never happen with my trading - and if it does then you need to learn from the experience and build a better exit strategy into your trading plan. On paper it is relatively easy to Make Money trading the Forex Market but there is a psychology to trading well and building a Home Business as your future earning capacity and fulfilling your dreams of Financial Freedom.

It is very hard to cut your loses but you need to for your money management strategy aswell as your trading plan. Forex Trading is something you need to learn how to do and this learning doesn't happen over night. It takes time to understand market movement, back test strategies, find out which indicators and moving averages suit you best and do you use Pivot Points aswell as Fibonacci?

If you are prepared to really Learn Forex Trading it is such a great opportunity. Millions are already trading but I don't know how many adopt good trading attitudes, see trading as developing their Own Business and treat it with the same respect as if they were starting out with a business loan in hand. Having said that it offers such freedom that I would recommend it to others and great for Work At Home Moms, those who do shift work and those who just want to Earn Extra Cash.

So trading Forex Market isn't just for the City boys then!

TRADE FOREX FROM HOME

Being able to Work From Home is something I have always wanted to do - I guess like many others. Having control of my daily routine and of the way I make money has become increasingly important to me as I juggle working to earn money and keep a roof over head while I figure out how the hell I'm gonna race full time! In the short term I took out loans to pay for racing which I am obviuosly paying back every month.

Having spent the last year and a half researching and writing the FOREX BOOK whilst working full time sometimes with my own private clients, sponsorship hunting, writing sponsorship proposals, networking, learning how to trade the Forex market and keeping up with the running, I am now finding that FOREX Trading IS the way forward. The more I think of the other business opportunities available the more I think trading is great. Yes you can loose money but the most important aspect to trading is preparation, practise and know what you are doing.

I was discussing the potential trading has to offer in terms of financial gains with someone online a couple of days ago. It really does have the potential to make money for the rest of your life. The Forex doesn't generally respond to economic forces like any nation's stock market will so is relatively stable and as its so liquid and volatile there will be plenty of movement in the price to make daily gains. It is very reassuring, especially in this current economic climate to know I am not nervous about loosing my job as normally I would be. I think trading is one of the best home based business opportunities available to all - especailly if you want to build your Own Buisness. Its great to be in control of your income, daily routine and there's no wasted time now sitting in pointless traffic jams and spending hours commuting - aaahhh how lovely :)

Its also good to know you can learn and develop at your own pace. When I first started trading I didn't think there was much point in trading £1 per pip and looking for a measly 20 pips - what good is that?! But now I see that its not about the money - its about consistency. If you can consistently gain 20 pips then it doesn't matter if you trade £1 per pip or £100 per pip. There is always a progression - a step up the financial ladder if you like. As long as you can be consistent thats all it takes - and it is possible to trade £100 per pip if you have a large enough account size. This is why I see Forex trading as running an Internet Buisness - THE BEST online business opportunity there is.

Is FOREX Trading a Business?

This really follows from general thoughts about sponsorship being as risky as any other marketing, advertising or PR campaign. It made me think that when I mention to others that I actively trade the Forex market the first reaction is - 'oh I could do that - its far too risky'. But any business opportunity risky? Isn't taking out a 100% mortgage risky? But many people do - society sees it as, yes risky, but its acceptable.

I think maybe many people are not altogether seeing trading as the business it is....possibly see it as a bit of a game - or worse see and treat it as gambling. You can loose a lot of money that way - which is up to the individual but if trading the Forex is seen and treated as an internet business opportunity then this is a very powerful way to make money for the rest of your life....well certianly for a very long time! Again its all about preparation, practise and learning how to do it the right way. There are now many tools available to everyone from books - like this one software, software from your broker, lots of online tutorials, experts with help and advice, live data - mostly all the tools available to all the city traders!

Again using the reference to starting your own business - you would do the necessary research first to establish an understanding of the market and build your knowledge first before making decisions to market your brand and carry out an advertising campaign. Having spent your budget on advertising your product/service how do you know what returns you will see - well you don't. You may have expectations but its a complete unknown. Again this can be seen with making trading decisions - know one knows what the market will do next - you make your decsions and see what happens. If you add in your expectations, wants and needs to the situation you can become emotional and not able to make clear decisions. OK so these will happen more often when trading but the key to successful trading is not to let your emotions affect your decision making when it comes to entering or exiting a trade. Do your research and write a clear trading plan - a business strategy if you like and then STICK TO IT. By doing this you will be practising good trading techniques - perfect practise makes perfect.

There are many get rich quick schemes or should I say scams. I don't believe any of them - surely someone else must be making money from you. I don't want that. The plan for me when I started trading is that I could work from home and be incharge of exactly how much money I made each day and what I could do to progress. I wanted to be in control and not a client or a boss and have the opportunity to progress and develop my understanding with a knowledge that this development would be reflected in monetary terms in the future. I see Forex trading as a fantastic home based business opportunity with the added luxury of being able to work at home - ahhh no commuting....and something ANYONE can do - I'm not joking either. For the short, medium and long term it is about financial freedom - not only from commuting but also as a solution to my continued underlying concern that design/architecture is the first to be cut from a company's list of things to do when there is concern about the economy. Yes its true to say that there are many projects being build around the world which I would work on and I have the experience to probably have work whenever I want it but I have experienced a downturn in the market a few times before - and its not a nice situation to be in. The schemes I am inlvoved with start at around £150,000 - so quite a chunk of investment for any company. That was one of the reasons for the decision to do something else - something I could control and conduct business from home. Trading the Forex gives me exactly that as its such a vast global entity that it is relatively 'safe' to trade and fairly 'predicatable' once you know how!

I have recently received an email from another race driver in discussion about marketing budgets being slashed as the economic slow down continues and therefore a serious lack of potential sponsorship available.

Having considered this predicament a few years ago and making the decision to find a way to fund my own racing I explained how I had learnt to trade online and am now trading the Forex market. This made me think I wonder if other race drivers are looking for other ways (legally you understand) to fund their race career? Another email suggests its a novel idea and its great to know that people think I'm doing some good work but I'm just looking for ways round the problem of funding that many others like me face.

Having said that I do believe that Forex trading is the way to go and am confident this will provide income to pay for some racing and then with some more good results attract the right sponsors. However I am not only trading to make money to race - it should also provide me with the finances to pay off some of my racing debt which I wouldn't otherwise be able to do. I'm not sure if that qualifies for achieving some kind of financial freedom or not!

Well trading is not a chore by any means - I enjoy it, I am good at it and I only need to spend 2/3 hours max in the morning to earn my day's financial goals - thats how to make money fast!! Plenty of time to spend the rest of the day catching up on blogs and running/karting/testing to progress my race career. It enables me to work from home which means no more sitting in commuter traffic hell - possibly the best bit!!

But some people think I am bonkers!

Some new to the concept think its far too risky and won't I loose all my money? But thats the thing I find most intriguing about this concept of how to make money online by Forex trading is yes it is risky but....uumm let me see...oh yeah - so is racing cars! Its not that I am bonkers but that I know how to manage risk and thats what makes trading work. When you get into a race car you know the score - you understand the risks and are prepared for the challenge - to make decisions fast based on preparation and understanding. Well its the same for trading.

As long as you have done your homework, treat trading like the great online business opportunity which it is, are willing to learn Forex trading, making clear decsions based on a well written and well rehersed trading plan then trading is no more risky than any other business decision. If as a business owner how do you know if investing your capital in buying some advertising space is going to make you a return? Well you don't. It's a 'risk' which many business owners make every day - either you will have made a good decision or not - there are only 2 outcomes. Again its the same for trading - only 2 outcomes either you are right or wrong - like tossing a coin. Maybe this is an over-simplified view but thats cool.....the way to successful trading is to keep your trading plan simple!!

I'm sure this is a debatable view and I'm certainly not advocating this as a get rich quick scheme as I have said trading should be treated as a business and given the respect it deserves. But I also think this is a financially viable route to follow if you want to make a second income, generally earn money and have the personal capacity to develop your own business from home.

FOREX Update

Hey - just to update

I have enlisted the help of an SEO specialist to work on the sites so hopefully will see some progress soon. Whilst all the background stuff is going on I need to earn some money so back to the design work for a week - will still be able to post with any news and developments! I'm heading over to Design Ministry in West London - have worked with the guys there on and off for a year so a familiar studio environment and its always good to get repeat business!

German Grand Prix

What a great race yesterday! Lots of action, loads of over-taking and a totally amazing come back by Lewis Hamilton after his last pit stop.

Gotta get making some money and quick to get back racing - I'm totally inspired now (not that I had ever lost inspiration!). Thanks to Neil Turner for a fantastic testimonial after buying ebook Money For You. Neil and some friends are going to set up a trading group so they can learn and trade the Forex market together hoping eventually to quit their jobs - go for it guys!! Training Tunes

Do you guys know about Podrunner? Really cool music to run to : ) A few months ago I had a great drum n bass mix by Aphrodite that really stepped up the tempo - I really got into the tunes and ended up increasing the speed on the treadmill in time to the beats! Great way to improve on your running times : ) I then stumbled across Podrunner - a cool dj who mixes great tunes for training on iTunes podcasts - just downloaded a 180 bmp mix and it rocks!!!! Have mentioned it on my other blog racerchick.wordpress.com awhile ago but its so good I thought I would post about it here too!!!!

Not good to have on while trading though. I don't normally have any music on whilst I'm waiting for good chart and trading strategy set ups - you need to have 100% concentration. Lots going on!!

Well I had an amazing chat with an Irish man with a trading and investment company yesterday. Really cool guy! He was telling me about a scheme in Ireland where school pupils around sixth form age are taught about the stock market, how to identify good stocks, the right time to buy and sell stocks etc so when they leave school they are much more aware of the possibilities of the stock market. How cool is that!

Trading from your home PC has only been available for retail customers (bascially the average joe) over the last 10/15 years and is developing at great speed!! Brokers are offering better and better software, products as competition heightens between established and new, emerging firms.

We agreed this is an exciting time as trading is really accessible for EVERYONE WITH A PC/MAC AND INTERNET CONNECTION. Those I have spoken to think you need to have vasts amounts of money to trade. You do need money if you want to go down the traditional route of purchasing shares but there are many other products which anyone can start trading with as little as £50/£100.

Buy the ebook and find out about the Forex market. It can be traded 24 hours a day weekdays - no joke . As with anything to do with the financial markets the price can go up and down BUT you can trade the market in both directions! As long as you place a trade thinking the price will go up - and its does then you make a profit. If you get it wrong you will make a loss........

FOREX Finally.....!!

Its taken approx. 20 months of hard work juggleing writing/compiling the ebook, working full time in design/architecture as a freelancer in London, still learning and working on racing sponsorship, networking and sometimes sleeping to get here.

I realised after competing in a select few races in the UK RenaultSport Clio Cup in 2005 that I needed alot more money to race and alot more time to spend on developing my racing ability. I have done really well in racing to date, having achieved 2 class wins, 2 awards, fastest sector times and my fastest lap time at Croft with a broken clutch! Oh yeah......I never give up! Having only competed in less than a full season there is oh soooo much more to come!

So having thought ok I need to earn more money and work less hours - it came to me.....financial trading! Also my Grandad spent most of his life buying and selling stocks from FTSE AIM 250 and 100 so maybe I was influenced a bit. Seeing as I am reasonably intelligent I thought I could learn how to trade.....its how the city boys make their money. So I have learnt. I started with a weekend course which was very expensive but didn't let me into the real trading opportunities. I traded binaries which was very successful at until my broker interveined and now I am tradeing the Forex market which is by far the most tradeable market I have found.

My brief to myself was to find an income in which I can make considerably more money than my 'day career', spend less time working more time on racing and the ability to start paying off some of my considerable debt (half of which is from funding my racing). Conclusion - success......Forex trading.
